IBM Lotus Notes 8.5 has since been released. It comes at a time when I'm busy re-building my laptop and that means I will be doing a fresh install of notes 8.5 on Ubuntu 8.10 - the Intrepid Ibex. Below is an brief account of my experience...
Installation The installation is pretty straight forward and has been since the Notes 8 anyway. Downloaded C1W0TEN.tar from the notes site. Untar and run the .dep package file(s) to install notes and the various components (Activities, symphony etc). I only hit a slight glitch whereby after running the install wizard everything seemed to be in order with all the lovely notes icons etc. Clicking on the icon(s) nothing happens. Well my fix came from this link: Time to Check My Mail On running the installed and configured Notes 8.5, all was well and impressive to me. I'm one of the guys who still likes the workspace and so didn't waste time to set it as my default home page. To my disappointment this is what I got:
![]() Hm, where is that database again? Is it on the server or on local? I haven't borthered to investigate this problem since everything else seems to be running perfectly fine. In 8.5 beta, I used to have a problem with reading some mail whereby the body would just appear simply pitch black. That's all gone :) Looking forward to the designer now!
